amanda + kadir . the wedding

Amanda’s truly an artist, and it exudes from every area: her schooling, play, fashion and career (she’s now head pastry chef in NYC’s Michael’s restaurants) I knew the wedding would be eye candy at every turn- and you’ll see; it was. Together, the couple blended elements of their heritage, family history, and relationship to create a day that lived and breathed their coupledom.

I loved that they were married at the mission one of her relatives is buried at and the reception held where her grandmother was married years ago (when Vibiana was a Catholic church) Being Kadir is Turkish, they held a ceremony that incorporated both Catholic and Muslim traditions and exchanged a ring from his family. The reception had elements of Turkish flair; such as belly dancing, colorful linens and custom made dresses were made from fabrics collected from travels to Turkey. Tables were a nod to areas of NYC where the couple now lives; Times Square, Manhattan… Simply beautiful and SO fun.

vanessa + nick . the wedding

Five years ago, a man wearing a Superman costume, waltzed up during the song “Sexy Back” and said, “Can you bring sexy back without a receipt?” Vanessa smiles remembering their meeting on Halloween night and recalls… “Probably the worst pick up line ever, but I was in love.”

…and their love + laughter is obvious. I’ve been so lucky to see such intense smiles and bonds over the years and their wedding was nothing short of a perfect way to cap this year’s season…

I met Vanessa a few years ago as she surprised Nick with a sexy boudoir session so it was thrilling to hear of her engagement and an honor to be a part of their plans… He’d proposed at sunset on the beaches in Santa Barbara- a surprise vacation at the Four Seasons with a note reading, “Get ready for an amazing evening ~ Mr”

The wedding itself amazed, from their first meeting on the docks, the sunset ceremony on the Coronado bay and then taking over Candela’s restaurant to celebrate…

allison + danny . the wedding

allison + danny’s wedding breathed life from start to finish… from happy tears + extremely moving vows to a raging celebration… truly, an amazing party filled with love.

Thank you so much for letting me be a part of such a beautiful love story…

the bride says:

“Danny and I met in 2000, while both in high school, on a plane heading for a summer away in Cambridge, England. Needless to say it took a while for us to get serious, but after we both graduated from college, we lived together in Buenos Aires, Argentina for 4 years before he proposed and we decided to move back to California to be closer to our families.

My mom and I did most of the planning along with our wedding planner, Amber.  My (now) husband’s only major requests were: 1.Space for lots of Friends 2.Great music 3.That we could party as late as possible (2AM in Los Angeles).  I wanted an outdoor, vintage and bohemian feel in a beautiful, architectural space, which I think we accomplished quite well at Vibiana.  The ceremony was extremely simple with the focus being the long, vintage style red runner – the only dash of color in my black and white color palette.  We couldn’t throw petals during the recessional, so we opted to hand out little vials of bubbles, which was really fun.  Inside Vibiana I wanted strings of twinkle lights to be a focus and appear like a night sky.  The flowers were kept very organic, high lighted with candles and housed in mercury and milk glass.  We added more vintage accents like the soda bottles that held the table numbers, the black chandelier and settee that were at our sweetheart table, and the black and white film photo booth.

We had friends and family that flew in from all over the world to celebrate with us and above all else we wanted everyone to feel comfortable and have fun, hinting strongly at that by listing the attire as “Funky Formal”… People dressed to impress but also to tear up the dance floor, which is what everyone did!

. A hauntingly beautiful boudoir collaboration . Happy Halloween!

I had the pleasure of collaborating on a creative photo shoot with some of Santa Barbara’s finest vendors… We had a blast stretching our wings and playing with the idea of blending boudoir and event decor with the inspiration of Halloween… Designer, Nico Cervantes, dreamt up this idea that had me salivating. boudoir? haunted? parisian antique feel? YES. I’m in.

He brought us to a quiet horse trail in Santa Barbara, setting up the vision. EYE CANDY. He brought in vintage furniture, props, and styled the shoot with the awesome help of Kayla, Fern, and Lindsay… Luna Bella’s artists, Ashley + Christin, provided sexy hair and make up for our hottie model, Nina LaFuente… Nina was amazing to work with as she braved dodging poison oak, the endless ants and spiders we found (not ideal when you’re wearing next to nothing, heehee! Thanks, Nina!) All with a smile on her face and the trust as I photographed her… Jessica Foster created scrumptious desserts for us (if you haven’t tried her treats, now’s the time… i was first introduced to her truffles a few years ago and fell in love. I’d never been a fan of truffles before but after but her use of blending chocolates with such unique flavors, it changed everything. love. yum. love.) Look closely at the invites lazaro made, and you’ll see it’s a carved out book with a beautiful, weathered, tea stained looking invite with a skeleton placed underneath on a bed of rustic looking straw. The lingerie was handpicked from Miss Kitty’s shop; ooh la la! I had the pleasure of stopping into her shop after the shoot and there’s many, many goodies within….

see below for links to the vendors who helped create this vision… We had a blast!!!!! So fun to work together and play!!!!!!!

Happy, happy Halloween, everyone!
